Hitting the Ground Running

Dave Capuano

I love the expression hitting the ground running. I looked it up and it was defined as getting off to a brisk and successful start. My name is Dave Capuano and I'm new to Vovici. I just joined in the role of vice president, marketing. The reason I love the expression hitting the ground running is that it implies you are moving fast. Nothing expresses what is going on here at Vovici better than moving fast.

I know all of you are loyal followers of Jeffrey through this blog but I'm not sure all of you are aware of how well the company he founded is doing. Being the voice of marketing, I asked Jeffrey if I could step into his platform and tell everyone. Jeffrey's a bit shy when it comes to bragging about Vovici on his blog, luckily I'm not. That's why I'm in marketing. To give you a flavor, let me catch you up on some of the great things that have happened here at Vovici this year:

  • Vovici VisionJust last week we held our first annual user's conference, Vision 2010. It was attended by over 150 people and was a tremendous platform for education, peer networking, and best practice sharing. It was also a lot of fun. Here are just a few highlights.
    • Greg Stock, Vovici's Chairman and CEO, opened the event talking about the increasing noise levels and the need for a structured approach to feedback initiatives.
    • We had tremendous keynote speakers with Jeanne Bliss (Customer Bliss) and Bob Hayes (Business Over Broadway).
    • We announced our "Vizee" award winners: Cisco, Eli Lilly, David's Bridal, Marriott, Weyerhaeuser, Harte Hanks, Corporate Executive Board, Sykes Enterprises, Inc., American Honda Motor Company Inc., NPR, Girl Scouts of the USA, Caterpillar Inc, and AT&T Complex Managed Services.
    • We had our partners and sponsors present with some terrific customers:
      • Attensity with David's Bridal on social media monitoring
      • Clarabridge with AOL on multi-channel feedback analysis
      • MRops on iterative questions, alerting and advanced surveying techniques
      • Verve and NPR on community-based social media
    • Oracle discussed how feedback is used in to collaborate with newly acquired customers, respond more effectively to their needs, and promote customer success and referenceability.
    • We capped Tuesday off with a private concert by Justin Moore, rising country music star with the number one Billboard hit "Small Town USA".
  • In Q1 we posted about a 40 percent increase in SaaS sales and had over a 150% increase in sales to existing customers.
  • We raised $6.3 million in Series C financing from our existing investors and plan to use the money to broaden current product offerings and expand sales, marketing, and business development initiatives in response to growing market demand.
I could go on but you get the idea. Things here are moving fast and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to periodically jump on Jeffrey's stage and help him brag a bit more about the great things that are happening here at Vovici. For now.................... back to your regularly scheduled programming.

It was great to be part of Vovici's first conference and to hear from Greg Stock, Jeffrey and all the other presenters. What enthusiasm and passion for the company as well as the Voice of the Customer. I came back to work with renewed energy for my role and cannot wait to hear more from Vovici and the wonderful and inspiring people I met while there. Keep up the great work Vovici!
