MR Webcast Opportunities

Haven't made it to a research conference yet this year? Webcasts are a great way to keep up without the hassle of travel.
The big news in research webcasts is Wednesday's American Marketing Association virtual event, Unveiling Marketing Research's Future Online. Organized by Mike Brown (who organized last year's AMA MRC), this is the AMA's second virtual event, a follow up to its very popular social-media event. You will have seven webcasts to choose from during the course of the day, including:
- "Expect the Unexpected" - Sheryl Connelly of Ford Motor Company has the one job at Ford that has nothing to do with cars: understanding everything else happening in the world! Check out her review of megatrends from last year's AMA MRC: Envisioning the Future at Ford.
- "How Do You Fascinate?" - Sally Hogshead, author of Radical Careering, will discuss her book Fascinate. Here's a recap of her AMA MRC presentation, Be Fascinating.
- "In Your Car" - Where Kelley Styring's book In Your Purse was a great example of the power of ethnography, she takes ethnography to a new level with her book In Your Car.
- "Understand the New Consumer" - GfK Roper Consulting will share the results of interviews with 30,000 consumers in 25 countries, looking at consumer expectations in a world of broken trust.
- "DIY Research" - Careerbuilder and Survey Analytics will discuss areas of excellence and pitfalls to avoid with Do-It-Yourself studies.
- "Tweet Off" - Last but not least, @VirtualMR, @ResearchRocks and I will debate five research issues in a point/counterpoint style, letting the audience vote as well, though the judge for each debate point can overrule the audience!
Other upcoming webcasts:
I can remember when my competitor, now colleague, Brian Koma, at WebSurveyor was one of the only games in town for market research webinars. There are now an embarrassment of riches when it comes to keeping up with the industry from the comfort of your web browser.
