Research Roundup: From Frandship to Marriage

Twitter MRX CommunityHere are some of the most retweeted of the 720 unique links shared on the Twitter MRX community this past week:

  • 10 Rules of Frandship [pdf] – TNS Research spells out the ten rules of “frandship”, the emotional relationship between consumers and brands:
    1. First impressions count
    2. Buy us presents
    3. Remember the important things
    4. Hold our hands in trouble times
    5. Don’t talk about yourself all the time
    6. Frandships are for life, not just for Christmas
    7. Keep in touch, but not too often
    8. We will talk about you behind your back
    9. Don’t embarrass us in public
    10. Don’t cross the boundaries
  • New Approaches to Presenting Data – The next NewMR virtual event will focus on new approaches to presenting market research data, something we could all learn to do better. The link is to a call for presenters.
  • Apple Launching Online Customer Panel  – James Verrinder of Research reports that Apple is currently recruiting customers to join the Apple Customer Pulse panel and provide feedback on Apple products.
  • In Defense of the Lowly Pie Chart – Lisa Horwich at Pallas Research Associates springs to the aid of the pie chart, asking, “Really, what has that poor pie chart done that makes it so abhorrent to folks?”
  • Immediate Audience Reaction To Royal Wedding One Of Happiness And Pride – Apparently, there was some wedding last week and some company in some North American country that puts the groom’s grandmother on its currency took an interest in said wedding. Women’s happiness peaked when first catching sight of the wedding dress, and men’s pride peaked when watching a flyover of bombers (known as “fly-pasts” in countries that still give jobs away based on heredity).

I, for one, on behalf of grooms everywhere, believe that every wedding could be improved by adding flyovers.
