Vovici Vision 2011

Just last week we had approximately 200 of our closest friends join us at Vovici Vision 2011 in Reston, Virginia. The event kicked off on May 18 and attracted a broad mix of customers, partners, loyalty professionals and analysts from around the globe.
As the head of Marketing, I love this event because it provides a personal connection that is hard to find in today’s technology driven world. In the presentation I did on Thursday May 19th where we announced Vovici Mobile and Vovici Social for Facebook I got the chance to talk about the role that technology has played in how we interact with information and each other. Even with these announcements as a backdrop, it was nice to shake a customer’s hand, say thank you for their business and discuss how Vovici can continue to play a strategic role in the evolution of their Voice of the Customer initiatives.
We were fortunate to have some of the best minds in the business in attendance. Presenters each brought unique perspective and insight into how their VoC program was delivering value to their business and everyone attending brought a genuine desire to learn, teach and network with their peers. When you get the chance to watch and interact with your customers in a forum like Vision 2011, it is hard to describe the energy that results.
As a recap, I wanted to highlight some of my favorite moments:

- Launching Vovici Mobile: Sharing the stage with Scott Blacker, Director of Product Management, announcing Vovici Mobile for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices was exciting. The solution looks fantastic and extends our market leading Enterprise Feedback Management solution with enhanced reporting and optimized survey taking for today’s mobile workforce. This was followed by our announcement on Vovici Social for Facebook, an application that can be added to a Fan Page and allow users to sign up for panels.
- Interacting with Customers: Talking to customers like Jon Windley from Savvis, Dan Womack from Aflac and Scott Wherley from Reed Exhibitions about the vision they have for their global programs was fascinating. The cool thing about each of these guys is the passion they have for what they do. Jon had three key ingredients to VOC success as part of his presentation: “Patience, Stamina, Passion”. Enough said.
- Having Faith in Mother Nature: The weather from 6-9 pm on Thursday May 19th was miraculous. Why you ask? That is when we had our customer event outside in an open ended pavilion. We had planned this event for months, hired Art Explosion, crafted a beautiful atmosphere and hoped for the best during a week it rained almost every day. At 5 pm, we were blessed with sun and warm weather. 5 minutes after we shut the bar……..thunder cracked and the skies opened up. Divine intervention??? One would think.
- Watching Customers Network: Watching our customers interact with each other was exhilarating. No matter how big or small their programs were everyone knew there were things they could learn
- Hearing from Happy Customers: The compliments were humbling. People were genuinely excited about the event and they were kind enough to express it.
For those who attended Vision 2011, thank you for sharing your concepts, strategies and time to help us all better engage our customers. Hopefully, everyone walked away with some of the answers you’ve been looking for and felt the event was of value. I know I did. I hope we get to see each of you again at Vision 2012!
